Day 1
Arrival in Burdwan
- Pick-up from Burdwan Junction Railway Station and transfer to the hotel.
- Check-in to the hotel and freshen up.
- Lunch at a local restaurant or the hotel (optional, on your own).
Afternoon Sightseeing:
- Lord Curzon Gate: Visit the historical Lord Curzon Gate, also known as “Bijoy Toron,” which was built by Maharaja Bijoy Chand Mahatab in 1903. This majestic gate stands at the intersection of GT Road and BC Road and commemorates the visit of Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India in 1904. It is an iconic landmark of Burdwan.
- Golapbag (The Rose Garden): Explore Golapbag, which features a botanical garden with a variety of rose species and other exotic plants. A pleasant spot for a leisurely walk and photography.
- 108 Shiva Temples (108 Shiv Mandir): A unique cluster of 108 Shiva temples arranged in two concentric circles, located near the Maharaja’s palace. A perfect place for spiritual visits and architectural admiration.
Evening Sightseeing:
- Sarbamangala Temple: Visit Sarbamangala Temple, built by Maharaja Kirtichand in 1702, located on D.N. Sarkar Road. The temple houses an ancient idol of Mata Sarbamangala that is around 1000 years old. The temple is also known for being the first Navaratna temple in undivided Bengal.
- Dinner at the hotel or a local restaurant featuring authentic Bengali cuisine (optional, on your own).
- Overnight stay at the hotel in Burdwan.
Day 2
Bird Watching and Departure
- Breakfast at the hotel.
Morning Excursion:
- Chupi Char (Purbasthali Oxbow Lake): Check out from the hotel and proceed to Chupi Char, also known as Purbasthali Oxbow Lake. This serene spot, located near Purbasthali in Kalna, is ideal for bird watching. The crystal-clear waters of the 9 km long oxbow lake attract more than 70 species of local and migratory birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. You can enjoy a peaceful boat ride on the lake while observing the beautiful avian life.
Afternoon:
- Lunch at a local eatery near Chupi Char (optional, on your own).
- Return to Burdwan.
- Drop off at Burdwan Junction Railway Station for your onward journey.
