Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at NJP/Bagdogra – Transfer to Gangtok
  • Morning: Pickup from NJP Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) and transfer to Gangtok (Approx. 4-5 hours).
  • Afternoon: Check-in at the hotel and freshen up.
  • Evening: Free for leisure or explore M.G. Marg (Main Street) at your own pace.
  • Overnight Stay: Gangtok.
Day 2: Gangtok to Lachen – Enroute Sightseeing
  • Morning: After breakfast, check out and drive to Lachen (Approx. 6-7 hours). En route, visit:
    • Seven Sisters Waterfall – A picturesque waterfall cascading down in seven stages.
    • Naga Waterfall – A beautiful waterfall along the way to Lachen.
    • Chungthang  – This junction point is the confluence of two sacred rivers, the Lachen and Lachung.
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Lachen and check in to the hotel.
  • Evening: Leisure time to enjoy the scenic beauty of this quaint Himalayan village.
  • Overnight Stay: Lachen.
Day 3: Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake – Transfer to Lachung
  • Early Morning: Drive to Gurudongmar Lake (Approx. 4-5 hours), one of the highest lakes in the world, located at 17,800 ft.
  • Optional Visit (Extra Cost): Chopta Valley or Kala Patthar, both offering breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks.
  • Afternoon: Return to Lachen, have lunch, and proceed to Lachung (Approx. 2-3 hours).
  • Evening: Arrive in Lachung and check in at the hotel.
  • Overnight Stay: Lachung.
Day 4: Lachung – Yumthang Valley – Transfer to Gangtok
  • Morning: Visit Yumthang Valley (Valley of Flowers), known for its lush green meadows, hot springs, and Rhododendron sanctuary (seasonal bloom).
  • Optional Visit (Extra Cost):
    • Zero Point (Yumesamdong): Snow-covered landscape offering a surreal experience.
    • Katao: Another offbeat snow destination.
  • Afternoon: Return to Lachung for lunch and then drive back to Gangtok (Approx. 6-7 hours).
  • Evening: Leisure time in Gangtok.
  • Overnight Stay: Gangtok.
Day 5: Gangtok – Drop at NJP/Bagdogra
  • Morning: After breakfast, check out and transfer to NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport (Approx. 4-5 hours).
  • Afternoon: Drop-off for onward journey.
  • End the trip with sweet memories for your onward voyage.

Important Notes:

  • Permits: Inner Line Permits (ILP) are required for visiting certain areas like Gurudongmar, Yumthang, Zero Point, and Katao. North Sikkim visit is subject to weather conditions and Army permissions.
  • Altitude Sickness: Be prepared for altitude sickness, especially in Lachen and Lachung. Consult your doctor and carry necessary medications. Drink plenty of water and take it easy on your first day.
  • Weather: The weather in Sikkim can be unpredictable. Carry layers of clothing, including warm jackets, even in summer.
  • Road Conditions: Road conditions in the mountainous regions can be challenging. Be prepared for bumpy rides and delays.
  • Accommodation: Accommodation options in Lachen and Lachung are generally basic.
  • Best Time to Visit: March to June (for greenery) and October to December (for snow).
