Itinerary
Day 1

Guwahati (GAU) to Shillong

  • Pickup from Guwahati Airport (GAU) by a North East Explorers representative.
  • On the way to Shillong (also known as the “Scotland of the East”), stop at the stunning Umiam Lake to admire its scenic beauty.
  • Check in to your Khasi homestay in Shillong and relax.
  • In the evening, explore the main market area like Police Bazar to experience the town’s nightlife.
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2

Shillong Local Sightseeing

  • After breakfast, start exploring Shillong:
    • Khasi Heritage Museum (learn about Khasi culture and history).
    • Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (also known as Don Bosco Museum).
    • Ward’s Lake (a beautiful man-made lake).
    • Lady Hydari Park (a well-maintained park with a mini-zoo).
    • Police Bazar (the bustling heart of Shillong).
  • Enjoy a local Khasi lunch and explore the town at your own pace.
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 3

Shillong – Nartiang – Laitlum – Shillong

  • After breakfast, drive to Nartiang to see the Nartiang Monoliths, remnants of the Jaintia kingdom, a collection of ancient monoliths.
  • Proceed to Laitlum Canyon, also known as the “Grand Canyon of North East India”. Enjoy panoramic views and spend time soaking in the scenic beauty.
  • Return to Shillong for an overnight stay.
Day 4

Shillong – Mawphlang Sacred Grove – Khasi Heritage Village – Shillong

  • After breakfast, visit the Mawphlang Sacred Grove, one of the most sacred and protected forests of the Khasi tribe.

Cherrapunjee – Mawsynram

  • En route, take a detour to Dawki:
    • Visit the Umngot River for boating (famous for its crystal-clear waters, especially in the dry season).
    • Visit the India-Bangladesh Border at Dawki (Ziro Point) and explore the local area.
  • Return to Mawlynnong, and visit the Riwai Living Root Bridge.
  • Check in to a local homestay for an overnight stay in Mawlynnong.
Day 9

Mawlynnong – Guwahati (GAU)

  • After breakfast, take a morning walk around Mawlynnong Village.
    • Visit the hundred-year-old Church of the Epiphany.
    • Explore the village’s narrow lanes and see how the locals maintain its cleanliness.
  • Drive back to Guwahati Airport (GAU) for departure, marking the end of your tour with sweet memories.
